A. At this stage analogue switch off time frame is year 2012 to 2015. This allows a 5 year change over period to digital.
Q. What is the Gizmo?
A. The Gizmo is a proprietary Lincrad aerial that has won wide acclaim throughout New Zealand. It’s compact, competitively priced, and able to pick up all programs broadcast on UHF and VHF frequencies and Freeview digital channels.
Q. Will the Lincrad Gizmo aerial work in my area?

Q. My TV1 reception is good but my Prime is poor. Why?
A. Prime transmits only on UHF and you may have only a VHF aerial. To pick up all free-to-air programs you need a combination aerial such as the Gizmo. If you do not use the Gizmo, you will need two separate aerials, one VHF and the other, UHF.
Q. Can my aerial be connected to more than one TV set?
A. Yes, but your signal strength will limit the number of TVs you can run off the single aerial.
Q. Why do I need more than one aerial to pick up all the TV stations?
A . Apart from the need for a combination or separate aerials for VHF and UHF signals, in some areas more than one aerial is needed to pick up signals coming from different transmitter locations.
Q. I’m moving to a different city. Should I take my aerial with me?
A. In most cases we would not advise this as each aerial is made for a specific area.
Q. How can I find out what channels are available in my area?
A. Our website will tell you. Click here to find our transmitter site listing, then click on your region.
Q. What is the maximum length of cable I can use between my aerial and wall fitting?
A. There is no actual limit but keep in mind the longer the cable, the greater the signal loss.
Q. Will I need a booster or amplifier for my aerial?
A. This depends on your location relative to the transmitter that serves your area, as well as the number of outlets you are running off a single aerial. Please call us on 0508 GIZMOS (449 667) for more detailed advice.
Q. Can I install my aerial inside the roof?
A. We don’t recommend this as picture quality is likely to suffer.
Q. Can my aerial be located anywhere on the roof or side of the house?
A. Yes, it can. But for best results, we recommend that the aerial be positioned so that its view to the transmitter site is unobstructed.
Q. There’s no transmission service in my area. What should I do?
A. You could purchase satellite reception equipment for a number of free- to-air channels.
Q. Will an imported aerial work as well as a Lincrad aerial?
A. It might, at least for a short while. But picture reception is likely to be clearer on a Lincrad aerial and our aerials are likely to last longer, as they are designed specifically for New Zealand climatic conditions.
